CONTINUATION --- AGanjú> The Demigod, A rebellious break with the gods. WRITTEN BY @POETOBY

SCENE 6
INT (ILE-IFE)
A fan made a jiggling noise and there’s commentary on radio, Pro. Ajadi wore a white robe looking like one of those Vatican preparing for evening mass. He’s a traditionalist. He had a giant book in his hands, his wool hair was combed up straight and his beards were waiting for comb to walk through.
A professor in Yoruba Literature, his thesis wrote about a Demigod that bring good course to humans who desire it, a god that defend humanity and fight the Mermaids and daughters of the river. His answers gave him room for more research. His long term project is to convince people that he will look for a demigod in this contemporary world and bring him to the history of his life.
Perhaps he will help us destroy the flood that the Mermaid is using to terrorize us in this land.
He began his research on signs to prove someone to be a demigod. He consulted the divinity of Ifa and a direction to Lagosto seek an unnamed boy by Ifa, having request for a transfer for the vacant post of Yoruba literature in Unilag.
He picked up his ragged briefcase and packed some of his research papers and the tools for his ifa divinity.  He prepared himself for an early morning trip and his search for a demigod began.

SCENE 7
EXT (Yaba)
Prof. Ajani looked like one of those rugged and torn books in a Latin library.
Bus conductors make mockery of Prof. Ajadi because of his funny old custom.
Having arrived at the Giant gate of the University. He pepped and set his fixed gaze rightward and the beautiful surrounds of the institution gave him a good account of the prestige attached to the school pedigree.

Prof. Ajadi
Do not worry my son, I have just been transferred here, on account of the ministry. The school is regressing in Yoruba literature. I have to meet with the school authority to finalize my move here.
Banjo(Happy)
Good, will be glad to have you in my class. Studying Literature.
Mr. Ajadi
Young man, you are kind and I perceived your parents gave you more stone of wisdoms to hurl at all times.
Banjo(Disappointed)
They are…. (Muted)
Chris interrupted, what are you doing with this old man who has no direct sense of navigation?
Banjo(Peeved)
You are such a devil in human body. How could you hurl abusive words to an elderly man?
Chris(silent laugh)
Seems you have found your father.
Mr. Ajadi.
I have to take my leave now, Banjo see you soon.
Chris(Laughed out loud)
You sure have found him, but the look dissimilar
Banjo(Express anger)
You are such a, Arrr……
Chris (laughing)
Why would you leave me on here because of a stranger?
Banjo(Turn deaf ears.) and Chris followed him with hurried in footsteps

SCENE 8
A week later ……
Sade sat under a tree listening to music, Mr. Ajadi walked by in his old ragged clothes and his briefcase was in his hands.
Prof. Ajadi
Young woman, can I please have your attention
After sometime, Prof. Ajadi noticed she was deaf to the world as of that moment. He walked up to her and tapped her by shoulder.
Sade(Expresses shock in uncertainty)
Oh!! You scared me sir.
Prof. Ajadi (Stutter)
Sorry about that, I had to because you seem pre-occupied with music

Sade
How may I help you sir?
Prof. Ajadi(Described Banjo)
Do you by chance know a young man called Banjo?
Sade(Curious)
No sir
Prof. Ajadi
Sorry to bother you. Thank you for your time
Sade
Don’t mention sir.
Prof. Ajadi stare at him for few seconds while Sade was curious why Mr. Ajadi would set his gaze at her, what could possibly be running through his mind. He is old enough to be her grandfather.

Prof. Ajadi walked on through the tranquillity of the school and kept looking for that one time humbled boy he met few weeks ago

SCENE 9
INT (Surulere)
Mr. Olowoyo
Mama Sade!....(repeatedly)
Mrs. Olowoyo
Am coming, baba Sade
Mr. Olowoyo
Are you giving my voice to the street to mock?
Coughs intently…
MrsOlowoyo
Never, I was trying to finish with the chores. You know Sade is not around, should have helped me with them
Mr. Olowoyo
I am not talking about chores this time around woman, sit down. My thoughts sailed back to the old times and the ordeal that surrounds Sade’s birth.
Mrs. Olowoyo(Breathe in heavily)
Do not worry yourself BabaSade, the ordeal will soon pass away.
Mr. Olowoyo
Do you have another hill except from this Sade? You seem too sure than what baba called the inevitable
Mrs. Olowoyo
We are Christians now, though we had to plead OSUN(The river goddess) to put an end to our still birth but I believe nothing is going to take away Sade now that she’s grown.
Mr. Olowoyo
Thoughts rolled into his head like folded mountain into one, I assume your coat of confidence is making me feel scared the more.
Mrs. Olowoyo
Do not be afraid baba Sade, our daughter will not die even if she did not go out to the dealings of the river goddess anylonger.
Mr, Olowoyo
If anything happen to my daughter I will take actions that will send you parking away from the house you’ve spent two decades and half.
Mrs. Olowoyo(Voice prayed)
Nothing evil will happen, GOD forbid.
A loud voice interrupted their conversation; Sade burst into the room with low or little manner and was looking scowling like …..
Sade
What evil is happening to?
Mrs. Olowoyo
Nothing my daughter…
She reassured and her voice sends urgency to rephrase what Mr.Olowoyohad said.
Sade
Good evening Daddy
Mr. Olowoyo
Welcome my daughter; you look like you’ve read the library to the index page
Sade
I feel like I am in a gathering that is almost foodless, this recently concluded exam, has swallowed me up.
Mrs. Olowoyo
You let your dad set high task before you in other to boost your GP, you really want him to get you as car to cruise
Sade
Mom, my mates are really waiting for that and I am going to be happy seeing myself as the owner of a car
Mr. Olowoyo
That is if you make an high mark score of distinction, aside from that you will board commercial buses till you end your programme there.
Mrs. Olowoyo
Your dad promises are always written in Calendar, He will give up his life to bring it to existence.
Sade

Mrs. Olowoyo
My daughter, go in there, Have your bath and come for your meal. I have prepared your favourite.
Mr. Olowoyo
My daughter, your presence now give me hope of something new to come, you have made me proud enough.
Sade
Dad, I made a promise to countercheck yours and I will see that coming to past
Mrs. Olowoyo dashed out of the living and room and Sade trailed behind her. He then stood close to the pane of the window and ran marathon of thought as of that moment knowing Osun will strike if Sade is not brought forth for the upcoming festival of the river goddess in which she will perform some tactual sacrifices.

SCENE 9
Ext (motion ground)
Prof. Ajadi was going about with his ugly briefcase and his oldschool hair in search of that wonderful boy. The only youngman his instinct tells he's a Demigod. Thought the divinity of Ifa alone can't always bring out the certainty in all requested for.
Suddenly he direct his gaze at the motion knowing both male and female students were always around taking pictures.
He saw Banjo, standing in a corner watching Chris take pictures with girls.. Chris popularity makes all the girls clamour his name.
Prof. Ajadi
Here you are
Banjo(scared)
You scared me sir
Prof. Ajadi
Am sorry, I have been looking for you all around the school
Banjo
Looking for me, are there not other jobs for you to do. There are probably 70,000 students here. It could take you a week if not more to get me
Prof. Ajadi
Actually it took me two good old days of looking for you.
Banjo
What for?
Prof. Ajadi
For the purpose of ...um
Banjo
For whatever purpose it may be, I am not available to wash your clothes help you prepare dishes.. You need to hire a maid. What I did the other day was just a moral conduct for me.. Could have done that for anyone
Prof. Ajadi
You are angered. Am sorry youngman.. Perhaps my basic instinct fails me this time around.
Banjo
That doesn't make sense
Prof. Ajadi
It will at a given point in time.
Mr Ajadi walked away and Banjo stood there. Saw him depart in his feeble body. Chris arrived and started making jokes from the scenes with all the ladies.

SCENE 10
Knock! Knock!
Prof. Ajadi
Come in
Banjo
Good afternoon prof.
Prof. Ajadi (Stammered)
Afternoon young man
Banjo
I supposed….
Prof. Ajadi
You supposed existence of ghosts?
Banjo(Dismayed)
What do you mean sir?
Prof. Ajadi
Sorry I am hallucinating, drank coffee much over a thesis I was writing.
Banjo
Oh, that’s okay, I think you need to have a rest
Prof. Ajadi
Do you care for everyone the way you do to me now
Banjo
Yes I care for people
Prof. Ajadi
Unlike your mates, they only care about grades, women and wine.
Banjo(Voice asserted)
I am no exception.
Prof. Ajadi(Presumed)
I know quite well a face that goes about to sleep with wenches and drench in alcohol, you have no such devil-may-care in you.
Banjo(Stunned)
How possibly do you know things about me?
Prof. Ajadi
Have you had those dreams again?
Banjo(Stood up hurriedly)
Dreams!
Prof. Ajadi
Yes dreams, sort that made you feel the occurrence of the past.
Banjo (perspiring)
You are beginning to scare me old man
Prof. Ajadi
Frightened? Do not because my transfer here purposes your unfinished business in our pre-existed world.
Banjo
That’s gibberish prof.
Prof. Ajadi
You can’t escape you in the old world from this new world.
Banjo(Frightened)
What you are seeing in me escapes me.
Prof. Ajadi
There are couple of deities around you. Those irresistible creatures, they are sent to give you a state of melancholy depression. I perceived the way you fidget there is no chance of you finding the goldy nature you possess.
Banjo (mesmerized)
You are not going to lure me to squander time believing what is actually not prof.
Prof. Ajadi(chuckled)
If you don’t believe in who you are, someone who truly believe in you may have to die that no amount of effort or divinity you possess later on will commensurate the loss.
Banjo(furrowed)
No one walks forward with his or her head backward, I don’t belong to the past, I belong to this world, and nothing is going to change that prof. Now if you would excuse me I have to take my leave.
Prof. Ajadi
If death comes, you will find You.
Banjo(Unconcerned)
If there is something wrong in coming to check upon you, then I have to cease the opportunity never to do so again, before your gibberish conflict my preparation for the forthcoming exam. See you not next time Prof.
Prof. Ajadi (smiles softly)
Omode o moogunounpelefo.
