  Love letter to all music fans: Give it a try

As humans, it’s very natural that we all want to be attached and associated with success. It is just normal that we want to be attached to the big wigs and big names in any setting within the society, failing to remember that all big names had humble beginnings, they all started small.

There was a 2face Idibia of the Plantashun boiz, a D’banj that used to play mouth organ behind the 419 squad, a Don jazzy that used to play keyboard with Sir Shina peters crew, and they all had humble beginnings. They have only gotten where they are today due to their own consistency and determination, not leaving out the support given to them by we the fans. They won’t have attained such heights if we did not stand with them all through. They wouldn’t be where they are today if we did not take time out to support them through every means possible. We as fans stand and are still standing by them, and this is a fuel that has kept them moving on.

Now things have changed. It breaks my heart with the situation of things in the music factory. A whole lot of the new acts do not get the support they need to take them to greater heights. They are not encouraged.

More often, we go online and we see posts of new music by new upcoming artistes. We are quick to ignore and then we search for songs by already established acts. This is quite unfair to them. These are individuals who want to showcase their talents. They have gone to the studio, done rehearsals, paid bills to be recorded and promoted, they need a listening ear.

Sometimes when I download music by some upcoming acts, my heart becomes heavy to why some of them do not get the well deserved credit. These people deserve a listening ear. Although a couple of them are wacky and are just in a quest for cheap fame, others are really good. Some really do know their onions. They get it right with every beat.

Upcoming artistes need our support. They have paid bills to get their songs recorded and promoted. They need support and encouragement.

My appeal to OAPs and DJ, please help support the good upcoming acts. I know and understand that you should be paid for your services, but what happens to that very talented artiste who doesn’t have much to spend. Do we just watch talents get wasted? I beg we don’t.

Upcoming artistes, please start learning good manners. A couple of you dress like upcoming Wizkid and Davido, then hand Promoters, Dj and OAPs your demo cd with your left hand. Are u nuts? These people have made celebrities out of nobody. If they decide not to assist you heaven will not fall.

My final appeal again goes to the fans, please let’s support upcoming acts. They are ours to be made. They need us. Let’s play our part and leave the rest to God and them. The next time you see a post to a song by an upcoming act, please GIVE IT A TRY, and download.
