Dbanj claims the ownership of Mohits, turns Don Jazzy to his Artist
After all the hullabaloo in the MO'HITS camp, the rumor of a split between the "most" respected producer in Nigeria IDJA i.e Its Don Jazzy Again and his Artist who also doubles as the vice president of the music group Dbanj aka Ooooooshey is now growing very fast coupled with the fact the said vice president when interviewed on the EBONY.com was quoted as saying "Coming from Africa I’m my own manager, I have my own label called Mo’ Hits with my artists Dr. Sid, Wande Coal, Don Jazzy, D’Prince and K-Switch. I own Mo’ Hits and we’ve won numerous awards by the grace of God". He turned his Producer to his Artist. this is an excerpt of the interview from EBONY.com
EBONY.com: How will you break into America’s entertainment scene?
D’BANJ: I’m bringing my culture, my music and preaching the gospel. We’ve been learning from America’s Hollywood scene and other areas in Africa because our continent is developing. We look up to the way you’ve built your industry and we try to do ours in the best that we know. It’s so good to see that Americans appreciate my music so that’s what I’m bringing, just original Africa.
EBONY.com: How did you join Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music label?
D’BANJ: I had a concert in Dubai and when we pulled up to the airport’s first class lounge and a hostess ran up to me with a plaque with Kanye’s face on it, asking me to sign it. I said ‘I’m not Kanye West, I’m D’banj but Kanye West is coming? All eyes open.’ Then my manager spoke to Kanye, came back and told me ‘He’ll give you five minutes.’ I walked over -- as an African man I’m always prepared -- and I played my music ‘Stand Out,’ ‘Fall In Love’ and ‘Scapegoat’ for him on my iPod. Before we knew it, I’d almost missed my flight and he invited me to New York.
Coming from Africa I’m my own manager, I have my own label called Mo’ Hits with my artists Dr. Sid, Wande Coal, Don Jazzy, D’Prince and K-Switch. I own Mo’ Hits and we’ve won numerous awards by the grace of God. Being with Kanye for the last eight months and me leading a successful label in Africa, I’ve learned a lot and I believe people will see what we’re going to do. I signed with Kanye in June and that same month I won the BET Award for Best International Act. My New York concert isn’t done by G.O.O.D. Music, it’s done by Live Nation, meaning I’m already a moving machine. So who better to introduce me to the global world than Kanye West, a crazy genius?
EBONY.com: What is your chemistry like in the studio with West?
D’BANJ: Kanye doesn’t try to change you. He has great ears and great people working with him. I learned the way people do music in America is different, number one, the budget. You don’t have to rush a song, you can take your time. I was glad because I have a studio in my home but I thought I was doing too much. I’ve been working with everyone else on G.O.O.D. Music too and John Legend and I worked together in London recently. It’s been great experience, I just beg people to listen with an open mind.
Many Nigerians have reacted to this but one thing is sure, whether Dbanj splits MO'HITS or owns MO'HITS, time will tell.

Ray adds that he had "no respect" for Kim while they dated, but then makes it clear why he stuck with her anyway.
"We were like animals; sexually free to try anything, and we did," he writes. "For years KK and I had a great sex life. There was more to our relationship, but the majority of it was about our wild and extreme sexual chemistry. She was a straight freak who was down to do whatever, whenever and that seriously hypnotized me."
Yes, we know, Ray. We all watched the video.

Kris Humphries tells Kim to "Pay Up and I'll Shut Up"
Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries are set to do battle in divorce court, but the NBA power forward has a message for the sex tape star:
Pay up and I'll shut up!
According to TMZ, Humphries is demanding $7 million in exchange for his silence and a clean, simple, non-scandalous legal split. Otherwise... he'll do his best to expose Kim as a lying manipulator who scammed both him and the public into a sham of a marriage.
Remain closed.

There are a few hiccups in Kris' plan, however:
- He signed a pre-nuptial agreement that guarantees him nothing.
- He made over $1 million off the wedding and its related TV special/photo opportunities.
- He also made well into the six figures off his appearances on Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
Remain closed.

Dbanj's interview via theNETng
African pop star D’banj’s February 19 performance at the New York City’s Irving Plaza has kept on receiving rave reviews from local and more international media.
As The Entertainer marked his formal US debut , MTV Iggy caught up with the Mo’Hits act as he talked about working with his G.O.O.D Music record label boss Kanye West, why he feels he’s already broken out and how he feels bringing Nigerian music to a more global audience.
As The Entertainer marked his formal US debut , MTV Iggy caught up with the Mo’Hits act as he talked about working with his G.O.O.D Music record label boss Kanye West, why he feels he’s already broken out and how he feels bringing Nigerian music to a more global audience.
How does it feel to be bringing Nigerian music to a more global audience?
With the reception I’ve gotten, I’d like to say, not like I was nervous, I just hoped and prayed that people would come with an open mind, that they can listen. And I saw that today, they came with their hearts, they came with their minds. I’m only grateful to God that that’s the beginning. Seeing this, I’m now eager to move around and continue the gospel.
What is your next step toward world domination?
To go on the road. America, for one. Even with this crowd, they’ve already shown us that there is massive audience for me here. I thought I was in New York City, but I’m seeing New Jersey, I’m seeing Maryland, I’m seeing Houston. I already have bookings in Houston. It’s just a big privilege and I’m so humbled. I can’t wait to just gladly take the music there to touch them.
A lot of American artists and rappers are working specifically with Nigerian musicians. What do you think it is that attracts them to that scene?
I think it’s not just now, and it’s not just about one or two things. First, I give a lot of thanks to a lot of people who have come before me. For one, I would say it’s not just even rappers. If you look at what happened here in New York for the last twenty four months, with Fela Anikulapo Kuti on Broadway [the musical FELA!]. I was fortunate to be at Radio City Music Hall during the Tony Awards. It was nominated for eleven awards.
Also, it’s our culture, It’s what we’re preaching, the music, for one, as you know, the sound. It’s not like I want to blow our trumpet, but I always say we came up and we already have sounds and melody and now we’re seeing the aggression.
If you had to describe the difference between performing in Lagos versus anywhere else in the world, what would you say?
Wow. With today, I wouldn’t say it’s any different. Today my people showed me here, people appreciate good music. Good music is universal.
Wow. With today, I wouldn’t say it’s any different. Today my people showed me here, people appreciate good music. Good music is universal.
Is there something in Lagos that sets the scene apart?
It’s very real. It’s very real and very original. You know, people are asking me if I’m going to change and I say, ‘What Kanye likes about me is that I’m very original’. Even the way I call my name: ‘I’m D’Banj!” And I don’t want to change that.
That’s what we all have in Africa. You know that we’re blessed with a lot of natural resources. We’re blessed with things like oil, and also we have talents. They say we’re a developing continent. Well, we have been developing. Now, we are developed.
You are already recording with Kanye West. What is it like being in the studio with him?
I came with a mind-set to learn. Also, to show my culture, but more importantly to learn. In the studio the chemistry was great. You know, music is universal. I’ve been in the studio with people who don’t speak English, but, at the end of the day, I love melody. I’ve gained a lot from him, that’s the main reason I’m here.
Do you have a place here in New York?
I do, but I’m not a New York fan. The weather is a bit crazy. I like ATL, it reminds me of Africa. Anytime I stop by the ATL, I like it. The roads are wider and I love the weather. Miami too.

Who is going to be the video for ‘Oliver Twist?’ I heard there would be some cameos.
A lot of cameos. I’ll give you a hint: my new family members.
A lot of cameos. I’ll give you a hint: my new family members.
How did you choose the harmonica as your instrument?
Oh, I didn’t choose the harmonica. My late brother chose the harmonica.
Oh, I didn’t choose the harmonica. My late brother chose the harmonica.
And you play it because of him? Did he teach you?
No, no one taught me. Later, when I studied it, I learned that it’s such a spiritual instrument.
Coming from even way back, from the era of the slave trade. It was one of the very rare instruments that Africans, now African-Americans could play. It was one of the few things that they could do, people that were stuck over here. But even for people that were not African-Americans, it stood for something that was more natural. Like, if you listen to country music a lot of them play the mouth organ and the harmonica.
Are you going to be doing something really different on the new album?
I really don’t know. I’m exploring. I’m going to be doing rock now. I’m doing a rock song! Don’t you believe I can rock?
I really don’t know. I’m exploring. I’m going to be doing rock now. I’m doing a rock song! Don’t you believe I can rock?
Tell me about Kokomobile. You have a branded cell phone on the market in Nigeria?
Yes, I do. Well, my brand is called ‘Koko’. It comes from the song on my first album. And people say, ‘Well, what is the koko?’ The Koko is whatever you do to derive pleasure. It is the bone of contention. So, people started calling me the Koko Master. Today, no one knows its specific definition.
But now I have the Koko Lounge, my club in Lagos, Nigeria. And I have Koko Garri, my breakfast cereal.
What will it take to bring Nigerian music to a mainstream audience in the US?
I think it’s already happening. It’s happened. I walked around; I saw the pictures of the people that have performed here [at Irving Plaza], The Beastie Boys, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, on the same stage. So, it’s already started.
The thing I love about Americans is they’re open to good music. If it sounds good to them and it looks good, they’ll buy it.
If you could collaborate with anyone, who would it be?
I like Rihanna.
I like Rihanna.
Chidinma interview via theNETng
Petite in appearance but full of energy and promise, Chidinma Ekile comes off as your everyday girl. But don’t let that bright smile fool you; she plans to be the best at what she does.
In this interview, the 2010 Project Fame winner talks about her family, her relationship with Wizkid, and why she won’t use sex to sell her music.
Chidinma how have you been doing?
I’m very well thank you
It’s been over two years since Project Fame, what have you been up to?
I’ve been working on my album, working on some other projects; I’m trying to do some other things apart from music, trying to diversify. That’s about it basically.
Tell us about the singles you released…
I’ve dropped four singles but I pushed two, ‘Jankoliko‘ and ‘Kedike‘. I have ‘Carry you go‘ and ‘Run their mouth‘. I’m thinking of shooting a video for ‘Run their mouth‘ because it got kind of popular during the whole subsidy removal time, everybody was just feeling the song, so now that I have an audience for the song, I’m thinking of pushing it further.
Who is your fan base?
I’m actually targeting everybody, though not everyone would like my music definitely, but, I have a very high percentage of youths, parents and little children.
Do you have them in mind when writing your music?
Definitely. During Project Fame, a lot of parents were in love with me. Some see me and go like; ‘o she looks so cute, she looks like my daughter’. And little children think I’m their age mate and they just look at me like ‘O she’s one of us’ and they get so excited. I got to know that when I released ‘Jankoliko’. I had to perform more for children because they really loved the song.
How did you come about recording with Sound Sultan?
After I recording ‘Jankoliko’, I wanted to put someone on the song. The first person I thought of was 2face. I thought he would do well on the song because it’s his kind of tune, but at that time I couldn’t get him. And then I thought of Sultan. I followed every of his songs as a kid, I like him, he is a very good songwriter, and a very good lyricist, so I said let me bring him on the song and he really did well.
How do you feel about competing with other female R&B singers?
I wouldn’t say it’s been hard, because I’m trying to create my own space. I’m not here to compete with anybody, I’m just doing my thing the best way I can. I think every body’s good at whatever they are doing, and they have really seen me like a sister. It’s been good being here and having to work with them.
Are you officially signed to a record label?
Not yet, but very soon, that is in the process…
How is your Relationship Working with Goretti and Capital Hill Music?
I think it all started after I finished Project Fame. Illbliss had to be my manager from Ultima and we had a connection, I think we had fun working together; somehow we connected and understood ourselves. Along the line I met Clarence Peters and became a friend of the family. It’s been good working with them; I usually have fun every time I’m with them
What’s your source of inspiration?
Because I am a musician, it just comes naturally, it comes to my head and I try to build it somehow. I’m not that person that thinks I can do everything on my own, I sometimes get stuck and then I ask for a songwriter to help me out. I do not write all my songs, sometimes I get assistance from other songwriters.
Tell us about your family…
I’m from a family of nine. I have six siblings; I’m the sixth of seven children, four boys and three girls. I am the last daughter but I’m not daddy’s girl. They are much older than I am and they treat me like the baby of the house. My younger brother is bigger than me so they see me as the youngest in the house. My family is really cool, they are a real family, and they have always supported my career.
How do you find time for family?
When I finished PF it was really hard for my dad to understand that things had changed. He couldn’t take it. I remember the first time that I was not home for months, and when I got home I was supposed to go for a show the next day. So I told my dad that I was going for a show, and he was like ‘where you going?’, that I shouldn’t go anywhere, and I’m like ‘ah, what’s he thinking’ (laughs), so my mom had to come and explain to him that ‘this girl has grown, she’s not the Chidinma you used to know, she has work to do and she has to go out every day’. So I went for the show and I brought money home and he was like ‘ok it’s work for you’, and ever since he just let it go…
If you weren’t singing…
I’d be a broadcaster.
Radio or TV?
Both, but I think I prefer radio.
You don’t like people seeing your face?
Not really, I just prefer radio. I’d just be there having fun, nobody seeing me and I’m doing my thing the best way I can.
What’s the experience performing outside Lagos?
It’s been really good. I remember when I went to Owerri, during the introduction before I came to perform, they started shouting. Seyi Law, who was the MC had to say that I was from Imo state, and they didn’t even let me sing. They said I should speak Ibo before I could sing. Similar thing in Ilorin, but it was fun; I learned a lot of things, made a lot of connections, gained a lot of exposure, musically, and stage-wise.
What’s your take on performing with a live band as opposed to recorded music?
Definitely a live band. I enjoy working with a live band because everything sounds so fresh. It’s even more interesting because you try out new things because you’re not tied down and you’re not forced to do exactly what’s on your CD.
Have you ever thought of using sexual content to sell your music?
I have not tried that, and I don’t think I’m even going to try that. Even my management is so sure, so comfortable with the way I am, so I don’t have to go nude and all that. I think different people like different things. But I don’t believe in all that. Someone once suggested that I try something new like bumper shorts or mini-skirts but I said no. I don’t have to go nude for people to like my songs. When they like your songs, they like you and when they like you, they like your songs. That is why they are your fans.
Why do you wear traditional attires most of the time?
I’m so in love with African prints, I feel I can do anything with them. Sometimes I sketch my clothes. I have a designer but sometimes I sketch my designs myself.
How was it working with Dammy Krane in your new video?
Dammy Krane is just a crazy guy. For all the times I was laughing in the video it wasn’t because Clarence Peters who directed it asked me to do so, it was Dammy making me laugh and it was all coming naturally. I think it made the video look better. The video was shot somewhere in Badagry on Dammy’s birthday. We didn’t leave on time and we could not make use of the daylight, which was frustrating, but Dammy was just there. We shot the video and there was no wahala. It was so much fun.
What’s up between you and Wizkid? You always seem to be flirting on Twitter
It’s just fun, there’s nothing to it, he is my friend, he is just trying to play pranks. We hang out sometimes
Are you in a relationship?
No I’m not

Kristina Bobby still hears from mum
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Whitney Houston's daughter on Sunday said she still hears her mom encouraging her "keep moving, keep going," and the pop star's sister-in-law revealed new details of the day Houston died in their first public interviews since the singer's death.
Bobbi Kristina Brown, 19, told talk show host Oprah Winfrey that she was "doing okay ... I'm doing as good as I possibly can" since her mother was found lifeless in the bathtub of her room at the Beverly Hills Hilton hotel on February 11, the eve of the music industry's Grammy Awards.
"I can hear her voice, you know, and spirit talking to me, telling me, you know, 'keep moving baby. I'm right here. I got you' ... she's always with me. I can always feel her," Bobbi Kristina Brown told Winfrey.
"I feel her pass through me all the time," said Brown, whose father is singer Bobby Brown.
Houston and Brown's only daughter said she feels her mom's presence in the house they shared in Atlanta. The "lights turn on and off, and I go 'mom, what're you doing?' ... I can still laugh with her. I can sit there and I can still talk with her."
Houston was 48-years-old when she died. She rose to fame in the 1980s and enjoyed a long career that peaked with her 1992 hit "I Will Always Love You" from the movie "The Bodyguard."
But her life was plagued by a troubled marriage to singer Brown, and she had previously admitted to heavy use of cocaine, marijuana, alcohol and prescription pills.
Officials have said prescription drugs were found in the hotel room where she died, but a cause of death is still pending toxicology tests which are expected later this month.

Bobbi Kristina's first interview after the death of her mum
In her first interview since Whitney Houston's death, daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown said she was "doing as good as I possibly can" and recalled the tender last moments she shared with her superstar mother before her sudden death last month
"She's always with me," said the 19-year-old, Houston's only child and sole heir.
"Her spirit is strong, it's a strong spirit. I feel her pass through me all the time."
Bobbi Kristina made the comments in an interview with Oprah Winfrey on Winfrey's network, OWN, that also featured Pat Houston, the singer's manager and sister-in-law, and Gary Houston, the singer's brother.
Bobbi Kristina credited her family and God for helping her cope since her mother's death on February 11 at the age of 48.
"It comes in waves. One moment I can be happy and laughing, but then it comes over me. It's my mom," she said.
Houston, who had struggled with drugs and alcohol in the past but according to family apparently had been clean, was found in a bathtub at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in California on the eve of the Grammys.
She was to attend a pre-Grammy party the night she died.
Bobbi Kristina said the night before her mother's death, she asked Houston to spend the night with her.
"I slept in her arms all day, all night long," said Brown, whose father is singer Bobby Brown
